Art Deco style

Hi everyone, well I have been a busy bee again today creating a birthday card for one of my regular customers. The 'spec' I was given was Bookatrix style, and an old time dancing theme. This is the card that I have created and I do hope the lady will be pleased when she opens it on her birthday.

White pearlescent cardstock layered with polka dot hunkydory silkart card and silver mirror card. Ruched centre irridescent white ribbon and large faux gemstones from stash. Frames diecut with Spellbinders fleur de lys rectangle die and the decoupaged image is from an old craft cd rom from Jemini Crafts.

Different Endings!!

I'm sure it must happen to other crafters, but why does it always happens to me when I have the time to have my own 'crafternoon'. I have these ideas and visions in my head, but what actually emerges from my craftroom is not altogether the same or even close to my original idea!!! The card I started is not completed yet but this card seemed to take over . . . . . .!!!

In the picture above is the digital project I created using CraftArtist pro and a beautiful image fro Jems Designs cd rom Enchanted. After tweaking in MCS editing programme I ended up with the image below

With so much going on in the picture itself, I just matted and layered the picture onto cardstock & mirri card from stash and added some brads to create the 8" x 8" card below.

As you can see I changed my mind about the printed frame on the image. Not sure if I should have kept it in but hey!! . . . .I still have the image for another card lol. have a great bank holiday

My stepper easel card

I have always liked the style of handmade card which is the stepper. My only 'problem' with this style of card is that it seems to be prone to collapsing / flattening when on display!! To remedy this, I thought I would combine the stepper with the easel style card. The end result can be seen in the photos below, followed by the recipe . .

Recipe for the stepper easel card above is:
 1 x card 210mm x 435mm
1 x A4 gold mirror card
1 x A4 printed backing papers (Jems Designs cd rom Enchanted)
1 x sheet toppers from the same Enchanted cd rom

Embellishments:
white marabou feathers
ex large faux diamante gemstone sprays and self adhesive gems (hobbycraft)
number peel offs.

I scored across the base card at the 145mm mark (1/3 along the longest side) this section forms the base / easel part of the card, and which left me with an A4 size section of card which I scored as per instructions from my hougie board to create the stepper.
As with all easel cards I placed a raised border along the edge of the base section to form a stopper at the back which is what prevents the card from collapsing when on display.
With the extra section, this card is too bulky to fit into a normal A5 envelope but fits into an A5 card box quite nicely.

My entry for the Cards Galore March Challenge

the challenge is - 'Clean & Simple'

This card is 8" x 8" and has been created by cutting the large ornate silver mirri card frame using my Silhouette machine. Spellbinders dies for the topper. The embellishments are white marabou feathers, black roses with faux pearl leaves, 'twizzly' silver stalks and a white organza bow. I think this card would be ideal as an anniversary or wedding card.

Back and raring to go!!

It's been a while since my last blog, but I have at last caught up with my commissions. The last order that I had was for a retirement card which is pictured below.

The customer wanted a card in cream and brown with gold 'touches' and I'm pleased to say she was delighted with the end result.
Martha Stewart border punches and spellbinders cutting dies were used to make this 8" x 8" card, embellished with bronze coloured metallic butterflies, faux diamante spray, pearly gold hatpins and marabou feathers with miniature roses and last of all a ruched ribbon with bow.
